Gabriel era Genesis Albums Reissued

genesis - nursery cryme reissued album cover

For anybody who, like me, thinks that Genesis were a perfectly good band ruined by a tax-fleeing drummer with ideas above his station, then they may be interested to hear that tomorrow (March 23rd) sees the reissue of the five Peter Gabriel era studios albums (excluding the 1969 cobble-together and completely different sounding From Genesis to Revelation).

Promising “new stereo mixes of all tracks, beautifully packaged in CD versions of the original vinyl artwork” but without any bonus tracks, it remains to be seen if they’re a worthwhile purchase for anybody who already has the ‘Definitive Edition’ Charisma CDs issued on Virgin Records, or just another way of lining Phil Collins’s already bulging pockets.

Trespass (1970), Nursery Cryme (1971)(which I’m listening to as I write this), Foxtrot (1972), Selling England by the Pound (1973) and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (1974) are reissued by EMI records and available from Amazon UK.
