Roy Wood Celebration on Radio 2

April 12th, 2009

Many has been the night when yours truly has lay awake wondering just what it would be like to have a BBC Radio 2  celebration of the studio work of the mighty Roy Wood. (Radio! Remember that?)

Well it seems my prayers are to be answered this Easter Monday (13th April 2009) when, like the unexpected return of another devotee of beard and flowing locks this weekend,  BBC Radio 2 shines the light on Roy Wood in The Record Producers.

The Radio Times magazine (Magazines! Remember them?) lists it as follows:

“Richard Allinson and producer Steve Levine celebrate the studio work of Roy Wood, who has had huge success with The Move, Electric Light Orchestra, Wizzard and as a solo artist. With input by Roy Wood, Jeff Lynne, Alan Parsons and Annie Haslam…”

It’s as though they read my mind.

The Record Producers is on BBC Radio 2, Easter Monday, 6.00pm.

With thanks to @joneone100 of jonone100 for alerting me to what will be a bank holiday treat for any fan of the mighty Roy Wood.

Edit. If you missed it, you can find the Roy Wood special here on BBC iPlayer until 20th April 2009

It was available on BBC iPlayer for 7 days after broadcast but I’m afraid it has now been removed. Whether it’s available on any file sharing sites, I couldn’t say.
