Simple Sister video: Procol Harum Week

October 6th, 2009

As reviewed yesterday as part of Procol Harum Week, here’s the barnstorming opener from 1971’s Broken Barricades album, entitled ‘Simple Sister’.

Well most of it anyway, as this video seems to be a sawn-off version, running at two minutes shy of the album original. Nevertheless, it gives a good feel for the harder rock edge that was heard on the Broken Barricades album.

This live workout is from the post-Robin Trower days, featuring the band in their fourth guise with Gary Brooker on vocals and piano, BJ Wilson on drums, Chris Copping on organ, Alan Cartwright on bass and Dave Ball on guitar (who having not long replaced Trower, would soon leave to join Long John Baldry).

Cracking stuff from the Procol Harum stable.
